Singer Antonio Charles brings his lyric baritone voice to a wide array of performances. In September 2012, he performed in the Amarillo Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly. Antonio Charles played the major role of Papageno in The Magic Flute at the July 2012 Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in Waimea. In June 2012, he performed arias with the Taos Opera Institute in New Mexico as part of an intensive four-week training program.
In 2011, Antonio Charle's quest to master his voice led him to a summer training program that gave him his first opportunity to star as Papageno. He also took on specialized study of German lieder (romantic songs) in 2010.
While in high school, Antonio Charles won a superior rating and an excellent rating in a local solo singing contest, and he performed in such musicals as West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, The Music Man, and Annie Get Your Gun. Above and beyond his achievements with the glee club and the choir, Antonio Charles earned an honors diploma and served as senior class vice-president. He also worked as a counselor with Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership. Active in the 4-H youth programs, Charles was a 4-H band section leader. He also served as a junior fair board member and won a performing arts award from the 4-H extension office.
